SOLO PROJECT

Words Leave Bruises Too...

For the 2017 Graphic Design Portfolio Review I created a poster that raises awareness for domestic violence. Domestic violence is defined as a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain control over another. I took an innovative approach to the problem of domestic violence by creating a poster that is directed towards cyberbullying and verbal abuse. Almost 43% of all middle school and high school students are victims of some kind of verbal abuse. Over 22% of college students have reported being bullied online, and 38% of those students do not believe their university takes cyberbullying seriously. The vulgar words above the fist, which are some of the most common words used to intentionally hurt and attack people online, represent that verbal abuse is just as painful and damaging as physical abuse. Whether cyberbullying has affected you, there are things each and every one of us can do to prevent bullying from negatively impacting where we work, live and learn.
